About the Event

After Gene Westendorf passed away in May of 1996, it was Dick Neff who had the idea to honor him by organizing a golf tournament in his memory to benefit the St. Vincent DePaul Society where Gene had volunteered during his retirement years.  This golf tournament was held for 23 consecutive years raising over $230,000 for the local St. Vincent DePaul charity.  

Dick Neff passed away on Christmas day 2020 and his beloved wife Cindy passed away in February 2021. They will both be so greatly missed by all of us fortunate enough to have known them.  Dick was one of the founders of The Castle. Dick and Cindy worked tirelessly to ensure that the doors of The Castle could be kept open to provide the much-needed services for their members.

We feel that this is the perfect year to transition from one great charitable organization to another.  In memory of Dick and Cindy Neff, the proceeds from the golf tournament this year will go to The Castle.  

About the Castle

For those of you who are not familiar with The Castle, its mission is to serve as “a gathering place of trust and friendship which supports people with mental illness to achieve their highest level of competence and independence”.   The Castle is located in Centerville and has been operating and serving the community for over 25 years.
